To ensure that the use of the student center is fair and good for all students, there are a few rules for booking that we would like to show you here:

What is possible?

Basically, we welcome all events that enrich life on campus:

  • Parties
  • Presentations
  • Networking events
  • Movie nights, game nights
  • International events
  • … and much more!

We also organize some of these events ourselves as Campus Kombinat e.V. – So if you’d like to get involved, please get in touch with us!

Which rooms can I book?

You can find a >> short room tour here.

How does booking work?

Initial booking

When launching the booking calendar, the booking portal will be open for one week for initial bookings. Long-term planned events can then be booked well in advance. After 2 weeks, we will close the initial booking period, check for any scheduling conflicts, and then publish your events online.

Booking during the year

The booking portal will remain open throughout the semester. Here, the Student House can also be booked for spontaneous events with one week’s notice.

Priority

Events with a clear focus on students and campus life have priority. We pay attention to this both during the initial booking period and when scheduling conflicts arise.

Public access

We operate on the principle of open doors: The large room on the ground floor and all events it hosts should always be open to the public.

Is it possible to sell tickets?

Yes, events with entrance fees are possible. 🙂 However, regardless of whether there is an entrance fee or not, access should always be possible without a private invitation or guest list.

Why no closed events?

For a closed group of participants, e.g. for seminars / lectures / workshops with a fixed list of participants, the university offers many other wonderful rooms. There are also other options in Magdeburg for private events.

Our thoughts on this: If the Student House hosts a private event, all non-invited students will be ouside closed doores. We would like to create a place that is always accessible to those who are interested. 🙂

Fees

For events organized by student initiatives and committees, the rent is usually free. However, there are a few exceptions:

  • A flat cleaning fee may apply for final cleaning, for example, in the case of parties.
  • If bar operations are restricted, a bar buyout fee may be necessary, as we actively use the bar to finance the fixed costs of ongoing operations. This becomes relevant, for example, if you bring your own drinks.
The good news: We are flexible and open to various solutions. For instance, we also offer affordable catering with our sustainable beverage brands. This simultaneously reduces the effort for everyone involved. 🙂
  • A small rental fee may apply for events that do not focus on the student body or for private events.

For events organized by external associations and companies, there is a tiered pricing structure based on the nature of the event:

  • Is the event aimed at students?
  • Does the event contribute to our association’s purpose?
(Arts & culture, as well as education & training)
  • Is the event a party or commercial in nature?

You can inquire about the rent and security deposit with us on a case-by-case basis. We are happy to find a mutual solution with you.

Code of Conduct

The Student House is a place for diversity, exchange and mutual respect. We clearly reject anti-democratic, discriminatory and misanthropic content. All events should share this attitude and contribute to respectful interaction.

Be a scout

Because one of the scout rules is: Leave a place cleaner than you found it. With this in mind, we hope that all users of the Student House will

  • put all tables / chairs back as they were found (unless otherwise agreed)
  • wipe all surfaces with a damp cloth, if necessary
  • leave no trash behind

The building is our community space, and we take care of it together.
