Otto-von-Guericke University Magdeburg is designing its campus. A new student meeting center is also planned – a place for events, get-togethers, and parties. A place for students! We are actively involved in the design and would like to enable an operation by students for students:
We want to develop the new building into a true center of student life: More than just a party location on the main campus! We are focusing on 3 building blocks: A daily learning café to be there for the student body during the day. Regular evening events with the proven two parties as the core. And finally, the integration of initiatives, student councils, and faculty councils into the concept.

… und die Studi-Kneipe: Wir möchten einen Ort der Begegnung schaffen. Tagsüber soll eine gemütliche Lern- und Arbeits-Umgebung entstehen. Studierende sollen uns als Treffpunkt wahrnehmen um sich auszutauschen und in lockerer Atmosphäre zu treffen, oder gemütlich am Laptop zu arbeiten.
In the evenings, on the other hand, we would like to expand the bar offerings in our city. Many students live in the vicinity of the university, whose current need for open meeting places on and around the campus is not met by the pub landscape in Magdeburg. There is not much going on on campus after 8 p.m. – we would like to change that.
Our goal is a quasi-daily use of the premises by students and employees of the Otto-von-Guericke University. Be it a film evening of a student council, a meeting of the student council, a semester opening party, or even a graduation ceremony: The use should be as uncomplicated as possible and free of charge for students.
To dispel all worries: We would like to maintain the previous rhythm of two party events per week. We want to appeal primarily to students and their friends. We are counting on cheaper prices, good advertising in the student body, and a sense of togetherness.
Good awareness structures are also important to us so that students feel comfortable with us regardless of gender, age, and origin. The whole crew should feel responsible – from the bar staff to security to contact persons on site.
We are located in the heart of the university campus! The new building will be built right next to the tent roof, opposite building 16 (lecture hall 5, with the inscription “Physics / Chemistry”) – right in the green! The area is currently a parking lot; the green areas are not expected to be reduced.
We are students and alumni of the Otto-von-Guericke University who are dedicated to the cultural and communal life on campus. We are driven by curiosity for new forms of studying and leisure activities.
In the new meeting center, we strive for a space for joint development that we can actively shape with you. What do we want to make of it?
